The DC-50IR illuminator is made by the factory to specifications provide by Digital FOV for IR emmiters, lens, and circuit boards. If you are looking for more range out of your night vision scope adding a more powerful IR illuminator is the answer.   

When shopping for a new illuminator here are a few things to look for:
1.  What emitter does it use?  Oslon Black is by far the best.
2.  As a general rule, larger quality glass lenses will provide more range.
3.  How many watts is it?  More watts = more power.  Does it use quality circuit boards.
4.  How much does it weigh?
5.  Quality housing materials like UniqueFire UF-1503 body.
6.  Can you focus the beam?  This makes a big difference when taking a longer shot or not putting too much light on a target that is close.
